EnableMath is the outgrowth of a number of years of development and refinement by its parent company, Enablearning, and rests on the principle that a new technology of learning is critically needed if we are to help the majority of students to succeed in mastering mathematics. Far too many students have been denied their dreams of a higher education and a meaningful career simply because they cannot master mathematics. This technology has been built by Enablearning to support what we believe to be the most important single ingredient to success - the active engagement by the student in the process of learning. This engagement is ensured through the process we call "Productive Practice"™. Research over the past several years has repeatedly shown that the mastery of math assignments through productive practice is more highly correlated to success than any other variable.
EnableMath is employed in a wide variety of programs. Enablearning began offering the EnableMath College program in 2005 to institutions struggling to find an answer to the huge failure rates of entering students in developmental math courses. In 2010 Enablearning introduced the enableMATH360 program for elementary and secondary schools. Finally, in January 2011 Enablearning entered the afterschool arena in two significant ways. First, the company partnered with Dr. David Kelley to develop a new afterschool program called Tamarind Learning. That program is now being launched in the Boston area. Finally Enablearning has helped form a new non-profit company, Sustainablearning. The mission of Sustainablearning is to utilize volunteers to support the development of persistence, independence and inspiration in those students who lack sufficient support either at school or at home.
